Hermana Miller and I are actual best friends and this whole week was another blast. So many people commented on how we seem like best friends, make missionary work too fun, and LAUGH too much. One of our new friends, Menio, even told us we seem like people who joke and make "chistes," so he taught us our new favorite word! "carcarjear" basically means to laugh out loud. Made us carcarjear on the spot at the end of our lesson. Facts, we like to laugh(but all good times haha)!!
AND we are also obviously on that missionary work grinddd! We have been doing daily zone challenges to #makethebasingreatagain and have seen mega MILAGROS! We started teaching 4 new friends this week!!!
Epimenio y Juan Carlos: Their door was the last door to knock after an hour of knocking and we ended up teaching an impromptu lesson in their driveway! They were in their car after getting home from work and we came up to talk, make some jokes, and share our testimony of the Book of Mormon. Menio ran in the garage to grab us chairs and asked us to tell them more!! We taught them about the Book of Mormon and gave them both a copy to start reading on their own!! It was super awesome! We have a second lesson tonight and plan to invite them to baptism, so send prayers their way!!
Luis: On Friday, our zone challenge was to get into 2 doors to share a message while knocking doors. Luis was the first one to let us in. He is 16, from chihuahua México, and has been in Utah for only about 10 months. His cousins are catholic(and told us multiple times before we left haha), but he let us in to share a message about Jesus Christ's atonement from the Book of Mormon. It was a slightly awkward lesson because you could tell his cousins made him feel weird, but it went well in the end. AND he is friends with one of the soliddd recent converts, Steicy, so she will be an awesome fellowshipper!! Excited!
Miguel: Okay this was WILD!! Friday afternoon we were making calls and called Miguel. We talked for just a sec bc he was at work, but we asked if we could come over when he got home from work. He told us his schedule was weird and he wasn't sure when he got off and we figured it was just a blow off. WELLLL we were on a finding walk literally an hour later and ran into him outside his house!!! And we didn't even have his address before! It was such a miracle, right place, right time experience!!!! We shared Helaman 5:12 and talked about Christ and basically it was so awesome. We clicked super well, he made a ton of jokes with us, and he is excited to learn more about missionary work and the gospel! Let's go!!!
Milagro: We knocked a door last week looking for Johnifer, but his member wife Angie opened the door instead. She was on her way to work and asked us to come back on Monday at 8. We came back then and when she was gone, I figured that was a blow off. We tried knocking another potential in her apt complex with no luck and were about to head out to go walk somewhere else. As we were driving out, we saw a Hispanic guy working on his car and got out to offer some help. While talking and come to find out he is in our ward, Angie pulls in the parking lot. We went back to her house and she welcomed us right in. We talked and shared 3 Nephi 11:3 with her and she told us it was EXACTLY the scripture she needed. Her life was a hot mess, but she had been seeking the peace that comes from the Holy Ghost more in her life and was trying to better hear Him on a regular basis. It was such a spirit filled and inspired lesson!! The Lord kept us there long enough to catch Angie and led us to share the exact thing she needed to hear. #inspiracion!!
Our last zone conference with President and Sister O'Riordan and Blickenstaff was this week! TEARS!! There were lots of bomb musical numbers, testimonies, and trainings. One of my favorites was when Sister O'Riordan shared some of her "flags" that she waves and reviewed the lessons she has focused on teaching the last 3 years. One of my favorite quotes from her was, "The Lord loves you so much that He will give you what you want. You show Him what you want by what you do." It hit me hard because it is so true!! I have seen countless blessings while serving my mission and I know that it is because of my dedication to the Lord and by showing Him my willingness to work hard and serve His children. I'm surrounded by amazing ward members, friends, and other missionaries! I'm speaking Spanish, the one language I was dying to serve in! I'm in my favorite area in the mish for a second time! I have the best compa! The Lord blesses us when we show Him what we want and do what He asks!!! Go try it out if you don't believe me and put that faith in action!!
I am out here loving life! I love my compa! I love vernal! I love Spanish! I love summertime! I love carcarjeando jaja! I love missionary work! Basically summed up, just living the dream!
bueno, Hermana Dougall
