¡hola mi gente!
Don't let the title fool you. Nobody got COVID, but a few of us did get hit with some symptoms for a day after getting the vaccine on Wednesday. All the reassigned missionaries got it and we had to bump district counsel to Friday because half of us couldn't get out of bed from headaches, aches, and nausea. I had about 24 hours of a migraine and chills, but after that I was chilling. Now I have my VIP COVID card and feel like a 2020 celebrity lol.
Another highlight from this week is the summer weather! It may have snowed last weekend, but it hit 80s this weekend and I am not complaining. I didn't think I would need sunscreen and sunglasses for my mission being called to England, but here I am sunburnt after walking outside all week. Missionary work in the summer is so so nice and the extra outside time makes me feel so alive!!!
General conference was the bomb.com!!! We had 4 of our friends watch it and pick out certain themes for them which made us so happy!! Our mission has focused on taking notes from the spirit and then choosing a five word summary as to what we feel the spirit was trying to teach us. My five word summary from all of conference was "Christ loves us all individually." Some of my favorite talks came from the prophet about faith moving mountains as well as the lessons we have taken from the pandemic, Rasband talking about miracles from God, and Uchtdorf teaching us that God is among us. It was a powerful spiritual uplifting weekend!!
In honor of Hermana Gomez going to Mexico tmrw, my dad told me I should send out one of her funnies so that it would be in writing for the world to see. You guys, she is a crack up and the ESL makes everything even funnier!!! Calling us all "buddy," "adorable," and "perfect" with her accent is my favorite thing ever!!! But a few weeks ago she was trying to make salsa, but couldn't find the "liquidora" or "liquifier" as she referred to it in English haha. I was confused and told her we probably didn't have one, thinking it was a food processor or some fancy appliance. She was frustrated because "everyone uses them and you use it all the time!!" but I had no clue what it was. She started opening drawers and finally found the blender and goes, "AHA! A liquifier!!" I died laughing as I taught her the word blender and we both grew a little closer that day. Good times and I'm gonna miss my little buddy!!!!!!!
MILAGROS: We also found a bunch of new friends to teach this week after wiping basically our entire potentials list. All 100% miracles de fe !!!
1. LETICIA - We knocked her door this week and she was not just happy, but excited to see us and talk to us in Spanish. She is from Mexico and only speaks Spanish, so when she has seen the elders multiple times she can never understand what they are saying. She wanted our number and the address to the church building, so we gave her both and invited her to watch conference with us! We are super excited to teach her because she is ready!!
2. LEONNA & KARLA - When we had a lesson cancel this week, we went on a walk and met Leonna and Karla walking their dogs. They have lived in Utah for work about 4 years each and don't know much about the gospel, but have some family and friends who are members. They had just recently been talking about how they wanted to get together and learn more from them and see if it was something they were interested in. We happily told them we could teach them what we believe and they were excited to give us their numbers to meet next week!!
3. FLAVIO - I gave this guy a Book of Mormon at a door contact probably 5 weeks ago. At the time we thought he was golden, but then he went to St George and when he came back he cancelled our lesson bc he was tired. I thought it was for sure a cop out and he wasn't interested, but my comps said to try one more time. We went back Saturday night and he let us in to talk about Easter. BUT we did minimal talking in that lesson. He taught US the entire Easter story with energy and was bouncing around the room talking about each detail. This man talked so fast and was so excited about God's love for each of His children! We were like YES YES YES we agree completely!!! He is a golden man too and I'm excited to teach him the restoration next week!!
If you didn't get a chance to watch conference, go read some on churchofjesuschrist.org!!! Spiritual fire all around and I'd love to hear some of your thoughts!!
lots of love!!
